Premier League giants Chelsea are considering leaving their Stamford Bridge home and relocating to a new location a mile away.

The blues have called Stamford Bridge home since their formation but are looking to build a 60,000-capacity stadium, on a 40-acre site at Earls Court. They had previously petitioned to relocate to Earls Court, but the move was blocked by Hammersmith and Fulham council, as well as making an interest to move to Battersea Power Station.

Stamford Bridge was built in 1876, initially for the London Athletics Club, before Chelsea Football Club was formed in 1904 to generate additional stadium income.

In April 2022, the Sun newspaper reported that the Blues could redevelop the Bridge, whilst relocate for five years whilst work was undertaken - though this seems to be a flash in the pan idea.

Whilst their current ground is compact, there have been plans in recent years (under former chairman Roman Abramovich), to regenerate Stamford Bridge but it appears that under their new owners, may look for pastures new.
